Over het algemeen is de OV-chipkaart niet geldig op belbussen c.q. opstappers en buurtbussen. De OV-chipkaart is ook niet in alle nachtbussen te gebruiken. In sommige regio's zijn er wel nachtbusreisproducten of verhoogde nachtbustarieven.
