Station '''Lelystad Centrum''' is geopend in 1988 als eindpunt van de [[Flevolijn]], de lijn Lelystad - [[Weesp]]/[[Hilversum]].
Eind Tussen 2008 begonnen de werkzaamheden om en 2012 is het station uit te breiden naar 4 sporen omgebouwd voor de ingebruikname van de [[Hanzelijn]]door het aantal sporen te verdubbelen van twee naar vier. Bij de bouw van het station was hier al rekening mee gehouden. Met ingang van 9 december 2012 is het mogelijk vanuit Almere door te reizen naar Zwolle.
