Geschiedenis
Het is onbekend wanneer deze lijn exact is ontstaan.
Op 10 april 2016 kwam de busroute over de Varkensmarkt te vervallen. Sindsdien rijden de lijnen 5 en 6 in beide richtingen via de Stadsring.
Met ingang van 11 december 2016 nam Syntus het vervoer in de provincie Utrecht over. Lijn 5 bleef nagenoeg ongewijzigd. Doordeweeks stopte de kwartiersdienst voortaan een uur eerder.
